KUMC project (S)he project
A documentary film and education collaboration with Dr. Megha Ramaswamy of University of Kansas Medical Center.
The (S)HE program's goals are to empower individuals in jails by providing sexual health education; facilitating access to correctional and community resources; and taking seriously the interpersonal, social, and community contexts into which women and men return when they leave jail, and how those contexts relate to health.
I filmed the documentary content, and then used that footage to co-teach a graduate level ethnography course. Each student edited and authored their own short film. Some of the student work will be premiering in film festivals in the fall of 2022.
